Dixie Lee Bryner Gibbs Grandma Dixie DIXIE LEE BRYNER GIBBS, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2009. Born in Murray on August 13, 1950, to Dean and Barbara Bryner, Dixie was a gifted student and talented musician who played the bass in symphony orchestras. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1968, and attended Utah State University. She married Leslie Harding Gibbs on December 23, 1970, at her parents home, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She will be remembered for her numerous accomplishments and talents, including her work as a costume designer, humanitarian and volunteer, tutor and teacher, which included home schooling her six children. She influenced and touched countless souls in this life and will continue to do so in the next. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dean Lloyd Bryner and Barbara Livingston Bryner, her sister, Carol Boggess, and her granddaughter, Melynda Beckstead. She is survived by her husband, Leslie Harding Gibbs, and by her sons Michael (Gerry), Christian (Marina), Patrick and Paul Gibbs, her daughters Wendi Gibbs and Rebecca Lambert (Brandon), and her beloved grandchildren Kimberly Fairchild, Shai Lynn Draper, Kevin Beckstead, Daniel, Sarah and Jacob Gibbs, Carson and Kaylee Lambert, and great grandson, Brooks Draper. The Gibbs family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Wasatch Valley Rehabilitation Center, Vistacare Hospice and Doctors Simmons, Chang and Duvernay, and the many nurses and aides who gave so generously of themselves in caring for Dixie during her prolonged illness. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Viewings will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 11-11:45 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.
