Dixie Odom

April 7, 1939 — October 13, 2010

Dixie Lee Odom 1939 ~ 2010 Dixie Lee Odom, age 71, passed away on October 13, 2010, with her family by her side in West Jordan, Utah. She was born April 7, 1939 in Pocatello, Idaho to William and Josephine Wheeler. She was the fourth of five children. Dixie enjoyed traveling, and during her time in Las Vegas, Nevada she met her husband, James Murry Odom, whom she married August 9, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. Dixie loved British comedies, and a good mystery. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, even if they were knocked over by one of the little wumpins, which wasnt uncommon. Dixie was a very hard worker, and was a dedicated employee of Kmart for 22 years. Dixie is survived by her three children: Deborah (Ron), Mike (Lisa), and James Clifford (Shirley); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Myrna). Dixie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim; mother, Josephine; sister, Georgia and brother, Eddie. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 12:00 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road (Redwood Road). Dixie was the very meaning of the word spitfire, she was open and honest, and would tell it like it is, without hesitation. She loved her family and friends dearly, and would never stand to see anyone she loved hurt, or go without. Throughout her life, she met many people; her outgoing personality and friendly demeanor, would create instant friendships that would last a lifetime. Dixie will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her; she is absolutely and undeniably unforgettable. We Love You.
