Donald Carpenter

Donald Lee Carpenter Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Donald Lee Carpenter, left this life peacefully on August 28, 2007. Don was born March 11, 1915 in Bingham Canyon, Utah. He was the fourth of five sons of Joshua and Flora Parks Carpenter. Don grew up in Bingham where he also met his sweetheart, Thelma LaReen Timothy. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 4, 1935. Don and Thelma moved to Murray where they reared a family of fiveone boy and four girls. Don made a living as a hoist operator at the Utah Copper/Apex Mine. After a time of living in Murray, he began a full-time poultry business. This afforded him the opportunity to work with his family and teach them the value of work. His passion for dancing gave him and Thelma many evenings of enjoyment. He also had a deep love for a beautiful flower garden. Don served in many capacities in the LDS Church including: Bishop, Counselor, High Council and Aaronic Priesthood leadership positions. He is survived by his five children: Karen Lobrot, Salt Lake City; Donna Lee (Walt) Breshears, Morgan; Connie Houtz, Orem; Robert (Marilyn) Carpenter, Millville; Marion (Evan) Campbell, Hyde Park; 22 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren. Don was greeted home by his sweetheart, parents, four brothers, two sons-in-law, a grandson, and a great grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray 17th Ward, 6300 South 300 East. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. A viewing will also be held prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
