Donald Huff

March 26, 1959 — May 7, 2010

Don Huff, 51 of Safford, was born in Vernal, Utah March 26, 1959 to Dan and Emma Huff. Don's family moved around to Colorado and British Columbia through Don's younger years before coming back to Cortez, Colorado. Don excelled playing high school football and was all-conference fullback before graduating in 1977. Don then moved with his parents to Safford AZ, the same year. Just one week after his 20th birthday, Don was involved in a car crash in Mesa, AZ. He spent nearly a year in Barrows Institute in Phoenix before his parents brought him back to Safford to care for him in their home. Don was a quadriplegic and had also lost his ability to talk. After caring for Don for 6 years it became too hard on his parents and they placed him into the nursing home. It broke their hearts but they didn't have a choice. Don had resided in the Sunset Hills Care Center for 25 years. He had been there longer than anyone including employees. Don never lost his will to live and always had a smile on his face even with the severe disabilities he had suffered. He was a die hard Denver Broncos fan until the end. Don's life ended unexpectedly on May 7, 2010. Don is survived by brothers Doug Huff (Billie) of Thatcher, Jerry Huff (Kay) of Soldotna, AK, nephews Scott Winters, Richard Huff, Kyle Huff, nieces, Kristin Huff, Nikki Huff, Ashley Huff, Breanne Huff, great nephews and nieces, Coley Winters, Clay Huff, Emmaleigh Huff. Also the many excellent caregivers who have taken care of Don while he lived at the care center. Don was preceded in death by both of his parents. Services are pending at this time.
