Donald C. Jensen Gone Fishing Donald Christian Jensen, loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, returned to his Father in Heaven, at age 86, on September 3, 2008, at home surrounded by his family. He was the first born of Cannon P. and Dura Thorpe Jensen on July 6, 1922, in Axtell, Utah. Don graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in 1940 and worked with his father on their farm until he was drafted into the Army at age 21. He proudly served his country from 1943-1946 during WWII with the 224th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. On October 10, 1952 he was sealed to the love of his life, Vonda O. Erickson. They made their home in Kearns, Utah in 1956 as Don had secured a job with Kennecott where he remained for over 30 years providing for his family. Don loved being with his family. He loved playing his guitar and country music, camping, hunting, fishing, and building things in his garage. He suffered a stroke in 1989 but this did not stop him from doing the things he loved and sharing all of them with his family. He lovingly taught his children and grand-children to appreciate and enjoy the activities that he loved. He taught us by example to live the Golden Rule, helping everyone he met. He had wonderful neighbors who looked after both he and his wife throughout their lives. He also had wonderful friends through his and Vondas association with Socotwa. He was embraced in heaven by his parents, Cannon P. and Dura Jensen, and his brother, Hal. He will be greatly missed by those of us left here on earth: his wife, Vonda; children: Susan (David) Delgado and Layne E. Jensen; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters: Amoir Deuel, LaRae Johnson, Doreen McMullin, Bonnie Anderson and Zara (Devon) Peterson. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at the Kearns 4th Ward, 4232 West 5015 South. A viewing will be held Sunday, 5 - 7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Utah at 2:00 pm.
