Donald Edward Sanchez passed away in his sleep on October 19th, 2018 at 3:30AM in Palm Springs, CA. Donald was paralyzed by a stroke in 2016 and was in home care attended by his long time friend Darrell Dalton. Donald was 70 years old at the time of his passing. Donald was born in Safford, AZ on Easter Sunday March 28th, 1948 which happened to be the same day as his mother's birthday.
Donald served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer from 1969-1971 including combat tours in Vietnam. He received numerous awards to include the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After his service in Vietnam, Donald enrolled at U.C. Berkeley Law School. He received his BA in 1973 and his Juris Doctorate in 1976. Donald worked for the City of San Francisco as Assistant District Attorney until he retired in 2000 then moved to Safford AZ to be near his Mom and Dad. Donald moved to Palm Springs CA in 2006. Donald, enjoyed rock collecting, cooking, cactus gardening, socializing with friends , and his pack of 9 rescue dogs he was an avid supporter of the ASPCA.
Donald is survived by his brother Dr. Richard Sanchez a pediatric M.D. from Tucson AZ
Donald's remains will be interred at Gila Valley Memorial Gardens, 650 E. Airport Rd., Safford AZ. 85546. March 28th, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Donald will join his father Marcos, mother Margie, brother Mark and grandparents at Gila Valley Memorial Gardens.
