Dora Christensen Ricks 1919 ~ 2010 Dora Christensen Ricks passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on July 11, 2010 at the age of 91. Born March 20, 1919 in Clarkston, Utah, Dora was the daughter of Joseph George and Annie Petersen Christensen. She was the 10th of 16 children. She married Desmond William Ricks on June 1, 1940. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1988. Their greatest accomplishment was raising seven children. At the age of forty, she accomplished a life-long goal by earning her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked at University Hospital for fifteen years. After her retirement she continued using her nursing skills by caring for numerous family, neighbors and ward members. Mother faithfully served in many church callings including primary, Sunday school and relief society. She served as relief society president for ten years, being released at the age of 80. Mother enjoyed traveling to church history sites and going on cruises with her sister-in-law, Geneva. Her husband, Desmond; 1 grandson, Loren Jeff Ricks; 2 great-granddaughters, Felicia Golder and Hope Celia Herrera; and 12 siblings, preceded her in death. She is survived by 7 children: JoAnn Ricks Anderson Harris (Larry), Taylorsville; Desmond Ross Ricks (Helen), Lake Point; Loren Wallace Ricks (Karen), Smoot, Wyoming; Wayne J Ricks (Nancy), Lehi; Maxine Ricks Whitehead, Kearns; Dorlene Ricks Rich, (Steve), Afton, Wyoming; Carl R Ricks (Lori), South Jordan; 4 siblings: Ned and Leslie Christensen, Trina Larson and Colleen Clark; 32 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. The family expresses thanks to Harmony Hospice, and the many good neighbors and ward members who helped throughout her illness.
