Doris Abel Scremin passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on January 8, 2011 in the home of her daughter. Doris was a loving and caring wife to Angelo, her husband of sixty years who preceded her in death in 2002. She was also a committed and loving mother who is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Dick Spining, her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Camara Scremin and her grandchildren; Julia Spining and her husband Jay McCallum; Katy Spining and her husband Dan Clarke; Ginger Spining, Justin Scremin; and Nicole Scremin. She has four great-grandchildren, Simon, Kaden, Keira and Jesse. Doris was born, the youngest of five on December 12, 1919 near Taylorville, Illinois where she grew up on a farm, graduated from high school and eventually met her husband to be, Angelo Scremin. They were married on February 21, 1942. After a brief time in Chicago, Doris and Angelo moved in 1946 to Chandler, Arizona where they were to raise their family and establish a family business, Angelo's Sheet Metal that ran for fifty years. Doris was an active member of Chandler First Baptist Church. Both she and Angelo were avid bowlers and their home was filled with trophies. Doris moved to Safford in 2004 where she resided with Barbara and Dick. She attended Safford First United Methodist Church. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her. Friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21st at the First United Methodist Church of Safford. Burial will take place at Chandler Gardens-Valley of the Sun on Saturday, January 22nd at 12 Noon.
