Dorothy Humphreys Shosted Hammond 1915 ~ 2009 Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away May 6, 2009 in West Jordan, Utah at the age of 93. She was born June 28, 1915 in Rag Town (Magna, Utah) to William and Mary Humphreys. Dot grew up in Garfield, Utah. Married Kenneth F. Shosted in 1934. Together they had two sons, Bud and Dick. They later divorced. Dot worked at Kennecott during the war. Married Vaughn Hammond in 1946. Dot and Vaughn made their home in Lake Point, Utah. They enjoyed spending time in Quartzite during the winter for many years. When Vaughn passed away in 2003, Dot moved to Kearns to be closer to Bud and Janet. Dot was active in the Kearns Senior Center and The Red Hat Ladies, when her health permitted. She is survived by sons, Bud (Janet) Shosted, West Valley City and Dick (Delpha) Shosted, Mesquite, NV; 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Defa; brother, Bob Humphreys and a special niece, Malasa Brimhall. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; 8 sisters; 3 brothers; granddaughter, Stacy Chatwin. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South with a visitation Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
