Dorothy Kathryn Stiner, our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, teacher and friend went home on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013. She is survived by her wonderful, caring companion of 18 years, Larry Jelsma, an angel on earth by her side. Also her children, Lori Escalante, Robert (Deborah) Stiner and Daniel (Tina) Stiner. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years Bill Stiner and her daughter, Kathryn Rosado. She has 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one on the way. Mom was the pillar of strength and courage always in our family. She led by example the things integrity, hard work and humility would produce in life. She expected a lot from her children and it was no less than what she, herself was willing to give. She loved to laugh, to dance and up to the end, loved old country music. Even in her most pain filled moments, should one of her favorites play on the radio, she couldn't help but tap her feet and sing along. One of her fondest memories was her work at Escalante Concrete as a member of the office staff. They went out of their way to make her feel loved, appreciated and valued for her work and requested she make her famous fudge often! She spoke so fondly of the experience and we will always be grateful for the love and joy they brought in her life. Originally born in DeKalb, Texas, she was a lifelong Arizona resident and loved Tucson. Funeral services for Dorothy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel and will be preceded by a viewing at noon. Interment will take place at the Safford cemetery.
