Douglas Hickman

April 24, 1947 — January 5, 2009

Douglas G. Hickman Papa Our beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend, Douglas Gerald Hickman, returned to his Heavenly Father Monday, January 5, 2009. Doug was born April 24, 1947 in Milford, Utah. He attended school in Milford and later served his country in the US Air Force in Vietnam. Doug and Linda Christene Jimenez were married October 12, 1999. After his military service, Doug worked with the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring as a brakeman. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting, and especially enjoyed trips to Disneyland with his family. Doug had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was serving as ward clerk at the time of his passing. One of his greatest joys was serving his Heavenly Father as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. Doug was a wonderful father, husband and friend, but his true calling was that of a grandfather. He loved and cherished his grandsons more than anything else in the world. They were the light of his life and his greatest happiness. His loss leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew him. Doug is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters: Brandy (Mark) Banks and Sarah; grandsons: Joshua, Hunter, Landon and Brady; sisters: Sandy, Diane, Jo Ann and Geri; brothers: Robert and Danny; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Zeke and Phyllis Hickman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the Hewwood Ward, 5643 S. 2200 West. Viewings will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 1-1:45 p.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
