Earl Franklin Walk 1915 - 2007 Earl Franklin Walk, age 91, passed away Friday, August 24, 2007 in Orem, Utah. He was born December 3, 1915 in Hunter, Utah to Henry Joseph and Lydia Eliza Smith Walk. He married Thekla Kunz August 8, 1941 in Salt Lake City; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. A resident of Hunter (West Valley City) for 81 years, our loving father was highly respected for his integrity, his service to friends and neighbors, his commitment to the Lord and his never ending support of his family. Dad was a builder. Through the years he worked at many lumber and hardware stores including Knudsen, Anderson, Economy, and his own company, Independent Builders. Mother finally convinced him to retire at the age of 81. His spare time was spent in his workshop, building gifts for his children and grandchildren. His sense of humor would always lighten up the room, keep his grandchildren in check and make us all leave with smiles. Dad directed and supervised the building of many church houses in his beloved Hunter (West Valley City). Dad loved to hike and camp in the mountains, and in recent years he and mother enjoyed the great outdoors in their motor home. He loved to travel and see the beautiful countryside. He greatly valued education and encouraged all of his family in educational and training pursuits. Dads love of missionary work was felt all around the world as he encouraged and provided financial assistance for 25 grandchildren on their missions. Dad served in many positions for the LDS church, including Bishop, Stake High Counselor, Ward Sunday School Superintendent and Ward Young Men President. Special thanks is given to the Orem neighborhood where Dad resided for the past ten years, the Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center, and to Ken Lau and Kraig Thorne for their tender home care during the final two months of Dads life. Survived by children, LaRaine Walk, Orem; Pauline (Dennis) McDougal, West Jordan; JoAnn (Calvin) Robison, St. George; Lynn (Rebecca) Walk, Manti; Judy (Vaughn) Park, Provo; 29 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Thekla, his parents, sisters Arline Wilcken, Ellen and Naomi Walk; brothers Don, Harold, George Walk; all of his 18 half brothers and sisters; granddaughter Anissa Lani Walk.
