Eda Louise Hicks Home at last Eda Louise Prantil Hicks was taken home Friday, September 14, 2007. She was born on August 20, 1912 to Anna Maria Baldi and Richard Prantil in Wilberton, Oklahoma. She is the youngest of five children. Pauline, Mary, Julia, and Adolf all preceded her in death. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan when she was young. At 17, she decided she was tired of the cold and hitched a ride with a couple who were going to California. There she met George Hicks and was married August 28, 1937, but was later divorced. They had two children, Anna Lavina and George William. In California she worked for Hughes Aircraft Co. as an inspector. She liked to tell everyone, she knew Howard Hughes. She loved to knit and all her children and grandchildren have at least one afghan she made. She also was an avid reader and was proud of her large book collection. She is survived by her son, George (JoAnne), son-in-law Jonathan Wood, eight grandsons, and 18 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Anna Lavina preceded her in death.
