Loving Wife and Mother Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother slipped quietly away from this mortal state into the next, on August 3, 2007, greatly anticipating the marvelous and joyous fulfillment of that eternal place. She was born on Nov. 29, 1933 in Springerville, Arizona to Price Williams Nelson and Sylvia Irene Robinson Nelson. She was raised in a small farming community, La Plata, near Farmington, New Mexico, where she experienced the challenges and joys of country life. She moved to Provo to pursue her education, graduating from BYU on Aug. 17, 1956, having there experienced some of the most incredibly joyous and priceless years of her entire life. She then taught school at South Kearns Elementary school for one year. On October 11, 1956 she married a very diligent young man, Larry Lysle Bailey, in the Salt Lake temple. He graduated from BYU in August 1959. Her teaching career was short lived as their first child, was born Aug. 17, 1957, precisely one year after her BYU graduation, again making this date very important. As incredible as BYU was, she had never anticipated the exquisiteness of heaven literally coming to earth as when her children were born. Activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was always a very vital part of her life. She served in various Stake and Ward Primary callings for 40 years. She served fourteen years in the Jordan River Temple Baptistry. Edith served a mission with her husband Larry in the Member Statistical Records department for two years. Life has given much to us! Never have I found anything in life so wonderful as the gospel of Jesus Christ, which encompasses our entire family, this wonderful free land of ours, the world, and all that we do. Life has been full, with all kinds of challenges and activities. We have traveled to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and from sea to shining sea in the marvelous USA. And always the latter has become more precious and dear to me than ever before. She is survived by her precious family, Husband Larry Bailey, and their seven children, Kelvin (Michele), Tammy (Mickey Beckstead), Linda (Micheal Stocking), Marsha (Brent Sabey), Pamela (Steve Miner), Robert (Jana), Suzette (Chad Stroman), and 31 grand children, and 8 great-grand children. Her family had a very happy home life growing up in West Jordan, Utah. Special thanks to Heather and Nicole at Rocky Mountain hospice, Marilynn Bennett and Westland 1st Ward members for the kind and gentle care given. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug 8th at 12:00 noon at the Westland 1st Ward, 7115 South 3200 West, West Jordan. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and on Wednesday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the Church prior to services.
