Edward Kelly

Edward Joseph Kelly, II, 90, of Safford, entered into rest on Friday, February 15, 2013 at his home in Safford, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 19, 1922 in Pawtucket, RI, to Edward Joseph Kelly and Anna C. Horan Kelly. He married Blanche T. Couture on August 21, 1954 in the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Central Falls, RI. Edward attended High School in Rhode Island, graduating with honors. He joined The U.S. Coast Guard and served his country. He graduated from Providence Rhode Island College with his Masters Degree, graduating with honors. He moved to Safford with his family in 1953, many knew him as a teacher at the Safford Unified School District for many years until he retired. He is survived by his wife Blanche of Safford; sons, Edward Joseph Kelly, III, and George Joseph Kelly both of Westlake Village, CA; and daughters, Anne (Eddie) Cooper of Scottsdale, and Lynne (David) MacKnight of Phoenix. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford, with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as Celebrant. Viewing will be prior at 9:00 a.m. and rosary will be lead at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
