Edward Eugene Smith 1944 ~ 2008 Our loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, Edward Eugene Smith, age 64, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on March 13, 2008 and returned home to his Heavenly Father. Born February 18, 1944 in Bishop, California, to Owen Sextus and Idonna Kesler Smith. Married Connie Rae Hanson on May 4, 1963 in the Manti Temple. She passed away January 18, 2004. Married Pam Dodd on November 18, 2006 in the Jordan River Temple. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Loved his country and served honorably in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Canberra. Lifetime member of the NRA. Was a devout Republican. Loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. Hunting was his passion. Was so proud of and loved all his children more than words can say. He was the worlds most gifted mechanic. Lived life as a warrior spirit. Very kind, loving, giving and gentle. Never turned anyone away who needed his help. Even after death, he continued to give by being an organ donor Survived by wife, Pam; children: Leslie Smith, Shawn (Shaundell), Bryan (Traci), Jason (Regina), Laura Smith, Kelly, Travis Hopkins, Tyler Hopkins; 10 grandchildren; Sister, Penny (Terry) Brewer. Preceded in death by his wife, Connie; parents; daughter, Sheryl House. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Highland 9th Ward, 10200 South 4000 West. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
