Edwin Warren

July 29, 1928 — February 6, 2010

Edwin Dilworth Warren 1928 ~ 2010 Our fun-loving grandpa, father and husband passed through the veil after a long battle with Parkinsons February 6, 2010. His loving wife, Pat and daughter, Katherine were at his side providing devoted care with the support and help of Kates husband, Dr. C. Kerry Stratford. Dad lived a life of service. His highest purpose in life was to be a good husband, father and grandfather and to help make the world a better place each day by serving others. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles Albert and Effie Dean Woolley Warren on July 29,1928. While being raised by their little mother, Eddy, and his brother and sister, he lived a life of many adventurous and heartwarming stories that he often told his children. Dad attended West High School in SLC where he played football and tennis and had many cherished, close friends. He attended BYU majoring in Physical Education. It was there he met the only girl that could steal his heart, Patsie Lee Kohler. They were married in Ogden Utah on Oct. 7, 1950 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple by Spencer Woolley Kimball on June 4, 1952. Dad had a strong work ethic and taught us by example, always at our side teaching us to appreciate a job well done. He would often slip in words of wisdom that became the foundation we needed in later years. Dad was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings; Kearns North Stake Athletic Director, Stake Missionary, Seventys Group Leader, Counselor in Bishopric, Temple Worker - Jordan River Temple, High Priest Group Leader in Bennion, and Executive Secretary to at least 9 Bishops which he truly loved doing. Ed and Pat had fun serving together as Kearns North Stake Dance Directors. He performed Home Teaching with great compassion. He was a wonderful provider for his family, often working two jobs. He was employed at Hercules Powder Company for 30 years. Retiring in St. George, Utah allowed him to enjoy the game of golf almost year round for several years. He and Mom loved their time together in the sunshine, making their little house a home where their children and grandchildren could come and feel of their love. Preceded in death by his parents; 3 granddaughters; brother, Calvin Warren; and brother-in-law, Keith Pendleton. Survived by his wife, Pat Warren; 4 children; Barr (Mercedes), Kimbal (Gayle), Katherine (Kerry) Stratford, A. J (Tomi Gayle); 14 Grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Ellie Pendleton; sister-in-law, Virginia Warren; and many nephews and nieces. We would like to thank Southern Utah Health and Hospice. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, 11:30 a.m. at the Bennion Stake Center, 6250 So. 2200 W., West Jordan, Utah where a viewing will be held, 10-11:00 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
