Elaine Knight

June 2, 1942 — May 13, 2009

Elaine Sorensen Knight 1942-2009 Elaine Mae Sorensen Knight passed away peacefully on a spring day, May 13, 2009 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born on June 2, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alton Sorensen and Ruth Bergquist Sorensen. She was the youngest of 5 children. Elaine graduated from East High School in 1960 and attended the University of Utah where she met her sweetheart K. Ronald Knight. They were married on April 26, 1963 in the Logan Temple. After living the first 5 years of marriage in Oakland, California, she spent the remainder of her life in Holladay, Utah. Elaine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. In 2008 she and her husband fulfilled a LDS Mission to Washington D. C. at the National Archives. She loved to travel the world, plant flowers in her garden, cook fabulous meals, and created many beautiful cross-stitch works of art. She was especially good with young children and spent many afternoons spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; brothers Alton, Bruce, Keith, and Howard; children Stewart (Liz), Ken (Darice), Greg (Jenet), Laura (Russ), Randy (Julie), Spencer (Christy) and 22 grandchildren. At those times, the what ifs all wash away. And now Im glad I didnt know the way it all would end, the way it all would go. Our lives are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but Id have to miss the dance. Thank you dearest Ron, my wonderful children and their spouses and my delightful grandchildren for making this the most marvelous dance a girl could ever have. I love you all until we see each other again. BE GOOD! Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 18, 2009, 12:00 noon at the Holladay 2nd Ward on 4568 South Holladay Blvd. Family and friends may visit Sunday May 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to the funeral.
