Eliabeth Dodge

Elizabeth (Betty) Holroyd Shipley Swensen Dodge 1/8/1917 ~ 9/17/2010 Betty was born to George D. and Mae H. Shipley was raised in the tiny town of Oak City, UT with her 11 siblings and she was the youngest girl in the family. She married Easten Swensen and was pregnant with their fourth child when he died suddenly. She valiantly raised them as a single mom until she met and married Dana Calkin Dodge and had another son. She was widowed again and worked many jobs to take care of her family. She enjoyed 16 years working at the Jordan River Temple and also a mission to Atlanta, GA with her sister, Helen. She had a long and fulfilled life and her family will always treasure the memories that we have of her. She is survived by children Evan (Lois) Swensen, Virginia Swensen, Jessica Bieker and Dana (Julie) Dodge along with 23 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and her daughter LaRue Sanders. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Ward house at 1160 E. Vine Street Salt Lake City and interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
