Elizabeth Whitney

November 5, 1927 — May 13, 2008

Elizabeth W. Whitney Remember who you are and what you stand for Our mother, ever the optimist, planted her final garden on Mothers Day with the help of her loving family. She passed away May 13, 2008. Born November 5, 1927 in Panguitch, Utah to Blanch and Deward Woodard, she was the eighth of 12 children. She learned hard work alongside her father on the family farm and spent her childhood fishing and playing on the banks of the Sevier River. Her idea of heaven was being outside, in the sunshine, digging in the dirt. She met and married her one true love, Paul Leonard Whitney August 8, 1946. Together they had seven children and two step children and Robert Kay. She taught her children the value of hard work and unconditional love. Moms family motto was work before play. You could almost feel her joy when she was crackin that whip! She was thrilled whenever she could get the entire family together to work in the yard with her or can a few bushels of whatever was ripe. She was spunky, tenacious, sharp tongued and quick witted. She loved a good joke and had the best laugh. Her famous Beth-ismone liners are used world wide and she wouldnt hesitate to hand out a Scotch blessing if she thought you needed it. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took great pride in them, no matter what, and loved every one as hard as she could. Survived by her children: Paula Whitney (Keith), Liz, Pamela Cox (Paul), Jeffery Whitney (Trudine), Patricia Wood (Ronald), Kathryn Barney (Paul), Karen Sharp, Ronald Whitney, Janice (Bob) Shuck and Robert Kay Ipson (Linda); her sisters: Diane Cadol, Gretha (Warren) Eyre and Sybil (James) Taylor; 21-27 grandchildren; 29-35 great grandchildren (depending on who wants to be counted). She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul; parents; brothers and sisters: Ward, Deward, Homer, Winifred, Barbara, Paul, George and Kathryn; grandson, Shane; great grandson, Tyler. Dont worry mom, Kathy will schedule the garden watering and on harvest day we will salute you with a final rendition of The Little Red Hen., and it will be our great pleasure to bring in the harvest. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Saturday, 10-11:45 a.m. prior to services.
