Elva Smith 1921 ~ 2009 Elva Emily Koyle Smith, 88, passed away September 22, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born March 22, 1921 in Burley, Idaho, daughter of John LeRoy and Alice Lillian Jex Koyle. Married Robert Ellison Smith March 22, 1939 in the Manti LDS Temple. Raised in Spanish Fork where she attended school, worked on the farm, rode cows and horses and loved to roller skate. In the LDS Church, she served as a Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher, Mutual teacher, Sports Director, Dance Director, Stake Missionary, Relief Society president and counselor, visiting teacher and as an extractor for the family history program. She taught sewing in 4-H, served in the PTA, was Camp Captain, Company President and Historian for the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, and served on the board of directors of the Days of 47. She is survived by her children: Connie (Jack) Hall, Darwin Smith, Dorthea Cook, Orella (Steve) Carver, Lillian (Dale) Winkler; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; sons: Wayne and Kurt; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Smith; granddaughter, Jennifer Cook; parents; 4 brothers; 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns 10th Ward, 5025 West 4865 South. Viewings will be held Wednesday, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT and Thursday at the church, 9:30-10:40 am. Graveside services will be held, 2:00 p.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
