Elva Turpin

January 18, 1913 — May 1, 2008

Elva Player Turpin Go Utes Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully May 1, 2008. Elva was born January 18, 1913 in Bennion, Utah, to Charles Leo and Blanche Baguley Player. She married her eternal companion, Vern J. Turpin, April 24, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple; he preceded her in death in 1971. Elva was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership callings, including a mission to North Carolina. She especially loved her service involving music and the temple. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and, above all, supporting the University of Utah. Survived by her children: Colleen (Alan) Taylor, Randy (Susan), Ryan Pete (Nancy), Roland (Debby); 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Joy Bateman and Pat Vincent. Also preceded in death by son, Rodney; a grandson; and great grandson. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of those at the Country Care Assisted Living facility who helped take such good care of Elva. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Taylorsville Memorial Gardens.
