EMMA LOU ALMOND ( Treble Clef Note) Emma Lou Weaver Almond passed away November 27, 2009 Emma Lou was born April 29, 1931 in Bennington Idaho to Melvin and Irene Weaver. She died in her home of 48 years in West Valley Utah at the age of 78 after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family, whom she loved so much. As a young child, she loved growing up on farms in Southeastern Idaho and there learned a strong work ethic and a love of cooking. She grew up in a loving home where kindness and mutual respect were foremost. Her love for others was unconditional and pure. She loved her siblings and was happiest when she was with family. At a young age, she developed a wonderful gift for music. She learned to play the piano and began playing in church meetings and for dances at the age of eleven. She fondly recalls playing in the family band with her father and brothers during the big band era of the forties. Emma Lou married Dean Almond in the Logan Temple June 17, 1952, by Elder Matthew Cowley. After stops in Downey Idaho and Logan Utah, they settled in Granger Utah. Dean and Emma Lou shared a love of music as Dean was also an accomplished musician. Emma Lou taught countless students how to play the piano and she shared her talents often at various programs and special occasions. All who heard her play were touched by her gift of music. Emma Lou fondly spoke of the time she played dinner music at a restaurant in West Valley known as the Oaken Bucket. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in a number of callings and served as the organist of various wards for over 55 years. Her testimony of the Savior is strong and she emulates his love to all that she comes in contact with. She will always be known as one who did not speak ill of others, and is cherished by all who know her. She was noted for her cooking, and holidays were special as she made wonderful pies and candy.
