Emma L. Buttner, 94, "Happy & Blessed" as she was affectionately known by her family, friends and the Christian community, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday evening, July 2, 2019, at her home with her son Estevan "Steve", his wife Helen Lujan and her comadre Dolores "Lola" Franco at her side.
She was born May 12, 1925 in Morenci, AZ to parents Roque Peru & Melquiades Serna. Growing up on Morenci, she graduated from Morenci High School in the 1940's. Emma was a homemaker who took pride in caring for her family. She was blessed with 2 sons, Estevan and Ernesto.
Emma was always cooking and preparing food for all of her family & friends that would stop by to visit with her. One of the highlights of the month for her was "pot blessing" at the Church of God Fellowship that she would faithfully attend. She would always get up early on those Sunday mornings and prepare her famous red chili enchiladas for her church family. On a typical Sunday morning her Pastor David Alford would ask her if she had a song to share with the congregation. "Yes" she would say, I have a song for my Lord Jesus.
She will be missed by her family, friends and the christian community.
Emma is survived by her loving son, Estevan Steve Lujan.
She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar Buttner and her son Ernesto Lujan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of God with interment in the Safford Cemetery.
