Emmalee Havertz

March 5, 2000 — October 1, 2009

Emmalee Ann Havertz Emm Our beautiful Emmalee Havertz, born on March 5, 2000 died peacefully on October 1, 2009. Her body was finally worn down by the effects of liver cancer which she so valiantly and courageously confronted on a daily basis with few complaints. She never wanted others to know how really sick she was. We have so many great memories of Emmalee and we cherished each day we had with her. She was intelligent beyond her years and enjoyed making us laugh. She loved to cook and eat and obsessed over what new thing she could eat or make. Her favorite thing to ask was What are we having for dinner? One of her favorite things to do was to sit for hours watching the cooking channel. Rachael Ray was one of her favorite chefs. She often flipped between the cooking channel and the Disney channel. There was no greater joy for her than food. She never ate large portions, but just wanted to taste and enjoy a wide variety of foods. One of her wishes with Make-a-Wish was to be a potato chip test taster. The Lays plant in West Valley allowed her to come on a tour and sample some of their chips. That day was a Heaven on Earth for Emmalee. She taught all of us how to be strong in the face of very difficult, challenging and painful circumstances. She was truly inspiring to everyone who knew her. We were able to go to Hawaii, Mexico and in January Make-a-Wish sent us to Florida for probably the best vacation ever. That vacation helped us feel loved and gave Emmalee a brief moment to forget her cancer. A viewing will be held at the Fruit Heights 6th Ward chapel, 901 S Mountain Road, on October 5, 2009 from 6pm-8pm. Her funeral will be October 6, at 1pm with a viewing prior to that from 11:30am-12:30pm. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery All who came in contact with her just fell in love with her instantly. Her courage will be thought of often. She is an amazing little girl. We are already so very badly missing everything about her. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Utah.
