Erlene J. Skorpen, born on March 7, 1933, in Lodi, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, in Thatcher, Arizona. Her journey through life was one rich with love, adventure, and heartfelt connections that left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She graduated from Prescott High School in 1951. Erlene possessed an inquisitive spirit and a love for learning that carried her through life. She owned and operated a hotel, where her passion for hospitality flourished. Her kindness and warmth were not just felt within the walls of her business, but extended to every person she encountered. Erlene had a unique talent for making everyone feel valued, echoing her heartfelt mantra, "Take care, because I care."
Erlene was known for her vibrant personality and zest for life. She loved to travel and meet new people, never wanting to miss out on any potential experience or the joy of connection. Her eagerness to be part of life’s many moments made her a beloved figure among family and friends. She had a special knack for storytelling and was an avid letter writer at one time, always keeping in touch with loved ones through her carefully crafted words. Playing Scrabble and capturing life's moments through photography were passions that brought her great joy and intrigue.
Erlene leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her devoted family, Kris & Gary Steele, Terri & Jim Lusk, Steve & Martha Burns, and Dan & Kim Burns. She was blessed with a large family, including 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her spirit and lessons in their hearts.
Erlene is also remembered fondly by her siblings, Gary, Dale and Diane Qualle, who will miss her light and laughter deeply. She rejoins her parents, Earl B. Qualle and Irene Gaskin Qualle, along with her sister, Roberta Qualle, in eternal peace.
Erlene J. Skorpen lived a life filled with love, adventure, and caring. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will forever inspire us to embrace every moment with joy and compassion.
