Ernesto Ortega God said, take care of yourself and I will take care of you Ernesto Ortega arrived on this earth June 11, 1931 in Mira Flores, Lima, Peru. He passed through the veil December 3, 2007. Ernesto married his beloved companion, Filomena Barretto, who preceded him in death in 2004. They have three children: Alex (Tamera Scott), Oscar (Yesenia Ferreria), and Doris (Dan Purser). Ernesto and Filomena were sealed, along with their children, in the Ogden, Utah Temple for all eternity. They have eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Ernesto had an adventurous spirit which resulted in bringing his young family to the United States in 1971. He was very proud to be an American citizen and was always grateful to the LDS missionaries who later introduced him and his family to the LDS Church. He always encouraged both his children and grandchildren to better their lives by attaining a good education. He was generous to all charities and was supportive of the LDS missionaries. Retired from Beckton Dickinson. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Abad Ortega and Julia Martinez; and brother, Carlos Ortega. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at the River Oaks Stake Center, 8950 South 1300 West where a viewing will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
