Eugene A, Schreur, 82, of Safford, quietly passed into eternity on September 20, 2018 with his loving wife and family at his side. He was born August 24, 1936 in Milaca, Minnesota to George J. Schreur & Dean Vedders Schreur.
He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict from 1955 until 1958 and then was in the Reserves for 5 years. Upon returning to the states he became employed by the US Federal Prison system where he retired as a Foreman. He was very active in several societies and clubs, such as; a lifetime member of the VFW, the Gila Valley Arts Council, a lifetime member of the NRA, the Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club where he loved to travel around going camping.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife Charlene Hardt Schreur, his children Mark Schreur of Safford, Michelle Schreur of Safford and John (Linda) Schreur of Payson, AZ, his step-children Ron (Mari) Dunkerson of Mesa, Tammy (Robert) Blaine of Phoenix and Heather (Brett) Curry of Overgaard, AZ , 21 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred & Marvin, and daughter-in-law Terry Schreur.
A Celebration of Gene's Life will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Johnny Wilson officiating. Military Honors to follow.
Family suggest donations be made to the Safford Lions Club, in Lieu of flowers.
