Eva Lanice Moore Monk Miller 1927 ~ 2010 Our precious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, Eva Lanice Moore Monk Miller, 82, passed from this world on March 9, 2010 at the Inn on Barton Creek, Bountiful, Utah. She was born November 1, 1927 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Samuel D. Moore, Jr. And Mabel Caroline Monson. She married Allen Burns Monk on December 15, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died April 19, 1999. She married Marvin J. Miller on June 15, 2006 in Bountiful, Utah. Passionate about education, Lanice graduated from North Cache High School, Richmond, Utah (1945). She received her B.S. Degree from Utah State University in Logan, Utah (1949) in Foods and Nutrition. She received her M.A. Degree in Institutional Management from Columbia University, New York (1951). Her PhD came in 1958 from Penn State University in Home Economics, Foods, Nutrition and Child Development/Family Relationships. Her doctoral thesis was accepted into the Library of Congress. Her education served her well in various career assignments in Utah, New Mexico, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Texas and Arizona. Lanice started taking piano lessons in 5th grade. She also learned to play the viola and performed in the Utah State University and the Penn State Symphony Orchestras. Lanice was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served devotedly in numerous church callings, such as, organist, chorister, choir director and teacher in various church organizations. She was a counselor in the Relief Society and President of the Young Women organization. She served as an ordinance worker in the Mesa Temple and with her husband, Marvin, in the Baptistry at the Jordan River Temple. She earned her Golden Gleaner award, faithfully served as a missionary in the Northeast British Mission. She is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Milan D., David Candland, Richard Lynn, Arthur Jefferson and Merrill Palmer; Marvins children; Marlin, Marian Hansen, Reed, Ralph, Lorraine Moyes Fisher, Glen, Maxine Droge, Earl, Nona Rae Haynie, Lanita Durtschi Schelle; 2 sisters; Maurine Lydia Shaw & Zina Vae Fisher; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Allen B. Monk; her parents; brother, Samuel D. Moore III; sisters, Elva Luella Miller & Mabel Fern Cope. Thanks to the staff of the Inn on Barton Creek, South Davis Home Care and Hospice Services. Funeral services will be held March 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bountiful 9th Ward, 585 East Center Street. There will be a viewing Friday, March 12, from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Mesa City Cemetery, Mesa, Arizona, where a graveside service will be held.
