Eva Catherine Bancroft Pipkin, 92 of Safford, formerly of Duncan, passed away January 7, 2014 at Haven Health of Safford. Eva was born September 29, 1921 in Quanah, Texas to Ira and Ella Mae Wagnor Holt. She spent many years working at Gracies Cafe in Crane, Texas, a restaurant that was owned by her and her sister, Snookie. People would drive many miles just to eat at Gracies. Eva married Harleigh Bancroft in February, 1936 and two daughters were born of this union, Peggy and Jackie. After Harleighs passing on January 2, 1971, Eva remarried James Pipkins in October 1977. Eva was known by her family as being one that loved people and her working in retail and other customer service jobs reflected that nature. She worked over 20 years in the grocery stores operated by Phelps Dodge in the Morenci area. In her free time she enjoyed many things including; bowling, embroidery, crocheting and cooking. Eva is survived by her daughters, Peggy (David) Brinkley of Safford and Jackie (Robert) Quinn of Duncan; her sister, Snookie Hudson of Crane, TX; 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harleigh Bancroft and second husband, James Pipkins, and her parents. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford.
