Evelyn Louise Cox, 94, of Oro Valley, AZ, peacefully passed away March 5, 2016 at her home. She was born April 27, 1921 in Beaver, KS to Carl Frederick & Magdalena Straub Hickel.She joined the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific theater during WWII. After her stent in the army, Evelyn moved to Arizona in 1946. She worked as a nurse's aide/housekeeping in the Morenci Hospital for 25 years.Evelyn enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and bowling. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She is survived by her children; Martha Sue Cox of Tucson, AZ and Cynthia Ann Gunel of Glendale, AZ, grandchildren; Brian & Charlie Gunel of Glendale, AZ, Cassandra Ynclan of Queen Creek, AZ, Cynthia Kemp of Twin Falls, ID and Greg Gunel, great-grandchildren; Brody Gunel of Glendale, AZ, Marshall, Oliver and Ava Gunel of Glendale, AZ, Sonya Clark of Chandler, AZ, Dalton Haveman and Corbin Kemp of Twin Falls, ID and Adriana Ynclan of Queen Creek, AZ.Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Euell Cox, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.Contributions may be made to The American Heart Association and/or the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford, AZ.A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel with the graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Safford Cemetery.
