Evelyn Denning Erkelens 1926 2007 Evelyn Denning Erkelens, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 22, 2007 with her loving and devoted husband by her side. Evelyn was born in Salt Lake City, Utah October 30, 1926 to Dan J. and Helen Edwards Denning. On June 8, 1944 she married John Gerald Erkelens, Sr. and began the long and loving marriage that has inspired so many. Evelyn was a skilled and creative seamstress and has warmed many hearts with her beautiful hand-sewn quilts. She was lively and cheerful and was always quick to laugh. Evelyn had a tireless enthusiasm for life which she shared with her children, grandchildren and everyone she met. She is survived by her husband John and their five sons: Jerry and Janet of Salt Lake City, Utah; Tom and Kris of Salt Lake City, Utah; Brent and Rick of Orem, Utah; Craig and Dennis of Seattle, Washington; Scott and Jean of Phoenix, Arizona; and her sister, Uretta Scarbrough of Grand Junction, Colorado. She has 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She will be missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2007, 12:00 noon at the Butler 4th Ward, 2252 East 6710 South. A viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Friday at the church, 10:45 - 11:40 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to CNS Hospice, and especially nurses Barbara and Dana for their wonderful care, and to the Butler 4th Ward for their support.
