Farren Vaughn Petersen SANDY With family all around, Farren Vaughn Petersen, 83 joined his beloved wife LaRene Cooper Petersen in their place of rest May 6, 2006. Farren was born July 25, 1922 in Hyrum, Utah, a son of John Albert Petersen and Ruby Caroline Nielsen. Farren is survived by his sister Allie Murray of Wellsville, UT. Farren married LaRene in 1945. They resided in Culver City California for 37 years and then later retired to Sandy Utah. He joined the US Navy were he proudly served on the USS James OHara. He was part of the eighth amphibious force, whom repeatedly landed on the beaches of Normandy and Salerno, Italy. His seamanship, tirelessness and coolness under fire contributed to the success of these missions. He was proud to serve his country and felt it was one of his greatest accomplishments. He loved the outdoors, and had fond memories of working on the farm. His hobbies included reading, gardening and woodworking. Farren was the proud father of three daughters; Susan (Michael) Forsgren, Janalee (Salvatore) Raio and Colette (Jerry) Lindemann. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; Shana (Shayne) Hilton, Jenifer (Chris) Bunderson, Travis Lindemann, Zack Lindemann and 4 great grandchilden.
