Fawn Bailey Smith ~ Angel of Mercy Zella Fawn Bailey Smith, born on May 14, 1930 to Reed Vincent and Jenevieve Jones Bailey in Spanish Fork, Utah. Graduated from Provo High School and Salt Lake County Nursing School; accomplished LPN. Married Gilbert Glee Smith on December 5, 1948 in Elko, Nevada. Marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 18, 1949. Lived in Utah and Wyoming. Died on April 5, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fawn was a beautiful, talented, vibrant woman. She was a surgical nurse and a member of the first Utah Heart Transplant Team. She had a remarkable alto voice, singing with the Utah Oratorio Society. She loved books, dancing, and poetry. Kind and compassionate, Fawn had many friends. She gave service to the LDS Church, Moose Lodge, and the Questarians. She was devoted to her family and deeply loved her husband of 60 years. Fawn and Gil were true sweethearts. Together they enjoyed numerous travels in the United States with their motor home. Fawn is survived by her husband and five children: Jan (Marvin) La Bard; Gloria (Jim) Eberling; Susan (Charles) OBrien; Reed Smith; Jodi Smith; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, AnaDel (Jim) Hanegan; brother, Paul (Lura) Bailey; sisters-in-law, Sadie Bailey; Marva (Wayne) Walker; brother-in-law, Blaine (Carol) Smith; childhood girlfriend, Doral JoAnn (Jody) Shelton. Preceded in death by parents, brother, Keith Bailey. Services at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Viewing: Thursday, April 10 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Service: Friday, April 11 at 12 noon with visitation one hour prior to service. Internment at Memorial Estates, Taylorsville, Utah.
