Marjorie Fern Engquist, 92 of Safford peacefully passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at her home. Fern was born December 7, 1917 in East Chicago, Indiana. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Indiana University Extension. She moved to El Paso in 1940 and began working for Phelps Dodge as a secretary. Fern later joined the Coast Guard in 1943 serving in Florida and Missouri before being discharged in 1945. Fern married Eugene Engquist in 1947 and they moved to Safford in 1951. Fern was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She served as chairman of the Cancer Society for many years and was a member of the Mt. Graham Country Club. Fern was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 2003, daughter Patty Felsinger in 1996 and 8 siblings. She is survived by her son in law Donald (Jenny) Felsinger and two grandsons Gregory and Michael. Funeral Services will be conducted at the All Saints Episcopal Church on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 3 p.m. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Christ the King in Tucson.
