Fernando Franco Gonzales, "Chapo" went home January 5, 2018, safe in Jesus arms, at the age of 64. He was born September 29, 1953 in Safford, Arizona to Diego Gonzales & Francisca Franco.
Fernando was a lifelong resident of Solomon. His first job was at the young age of 9 where he worked as a delivery boy for the Graham County Guardian with his first earnings of .50 cents going to his daddy. He later worked as a farm laborer, in construction and at Legacy Labels, formerly known as Impressive Labels, as a printer.
He was known for his love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising bird dogs. He also loved working on his International Scout. He married Mary Ramirez in Safford and together they raised three children, Fernando Jr., Frances Marie (Maria came later in life). The birth of his four grandchildren gave him even more reason to spend time with his family. Fernando also loved the Lord with all of his heart and shared his faith with all he came in contact with. But, above all, he will be remembered for his unconditional love of his family and friends.
Fernando leaves behind his loving wife Mary Ramirez Gonzales, children; Fernando Gonzales, Jr., Francis Marie Gonzales & Maria Gonzales, his grandchildren; Destinee Nicole, Fernando Gonzales III, Jessenia Gonzales & Esteban Isaiah Lozano and his siblings; Gloria (Richard) Ruiz, Diego (Barbara) Gonzales, Dilly (Gilbert) Barragan, and Frank (Lisa) Gonzales
He was preceded in death by his parents Diego & Francisca Gonzales, his nephew Brandon Barragan and niece Stephanie Ruiz.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at McDougal's Caldwell Chapel with Pastor David Gonzales presiding.
