FLOYD B WRIGHT JR. 1927 ~ 2008 Floyd B Wright, Jr. Was born January 12, 1927 in Sikeston, MO to Floyd Wright and Martha Mae Johnson Wright. He is the oldest of four surviving sons. Floyd was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when eight years old in a creek just outside of Memphis, TN. The family moved west in 1936 where they settled in Californias Central Valley. Floyd attended school in Visalia, CA including Visalia Union High School and the College of the Sequoias. He left high school in his senior year to join the US Navy and was honorably discharged in time to make it home to graduate with his class in 1945. He met the love of his life, Betty Jane Teague, when he was 16 and she was 14. They dated and then courted and later married on July 12, 1947 in Exeter, CA and were sealed four days later in the Idaho Falls Temple. Floyd and Betty have three children: Susan D. Mallamo (Paul), G. Richard Wright (Karen) and John T. Wright (Kathy); along with fourteen grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Floyd and Betty raised their family in Visalia, CA until 1972 when they moved to St. George, UT and lived there until 1993 when they relocated to Taylorsville. He was a life long and committed member of the LDS Church and was ordained a High Priest by Harold B. Lee in June of 1951. He and Betty served missions in the St. George Temple; Denver,Colorado; Alberta, Canada; and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother and sister. He is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and three brothers: Jay Wright (Judy), Joe Wright (Molly) and Wil Wright (Sue); and many good friends and neighbors. Floyd passed away on Friday, September 19th. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at the Taylorsville 1st Ward, 4845 South Woodhaven. Interment will follow in the Holladay Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
