Francis Oakeson

Francis W. Oakeson 1924 ~ 2010 Francis Wayne Oakeson, age 85, passed away January 2, 2010 due to cancer. He was born February 20, 1924 in Midvale, Utah to Francis Emil and Martha Lucille Carlsen Oakeson. He married Avon Whitaker Smith; later divorced. He grew up on a farm and learned to work hard. Graduated from Granite High School and Henegar School of Business. During WWII he served in the US Army. His business career was spent in various accounting and administrative positions with the US Government. He built his first home, loved carpentry, reading and being with family. He later helped his parents in their floral business and cared for them in their old age. He is survived by his two children: Grant (Rosalee) Oakeson and LaRaine (Jon) Stephens; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Willard (Nelda) Oakeson; sister, Gwen (John) Smith; sister-in-law, Yvonne Oakeson. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucile; brothers: Wendell (Jean) Oakeson and Leslie Oakeson; grandson, Jon A. Stephens. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 23rd Ward, 4932 South 3200 West where a viewing will be held at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, South Jordan Cemetery.
