Gale Burnett

Gale Duane Burnett, 80, of Safford, passed away Sunday morning December 9, 2018 at about 3:35 a.m. in Tucson, AZ after suffering a severe stroke. Gale was one of 12 children born in Thatcher, AZ to Benjamin Hartley Burnett and Deloris Moody Burnett. Gale married his sweet wife Sonya Peters in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7, 1962. Gale and his wife were sealed in that temple by Spencer W. Kimball, another native of Thatcher. Gale was married to his wife Sonya for 56 years. Gale Burnett was a real Pioneer in the Computer Industry starting with Litton Data Systems around 1964. He went on to work for IBM, Memorex, Caelus Memories, in San Jose CA and later Storage Tek of Colorado. Gale was the CEO and Founder of 2 companies which traded on the New York Stock Exchange, Advanced Monitoring Systems and Profiles Technology. These 2 companies developed the computer ability to detect cracks, corrosions and their location in oil pipelines to prevent leaks. Gale was the holder of 16 patents and was asked to make a presentation on advanced Optical Technology by a world class leader at the same podium of Isaac Newton in London England some 20 years ago. Gale was not only an eminent technology leader, but a valued father and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many leadership positions and was a very trusted and hard worker throughout his life. Gale is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Sonya, his 3 children, Kevin Burnett, Gwynn Burnett Meaker and Kendall Burnett. Of the 12 children in his family, 4 bothers and 1 sister are still kicking at their old age. He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Deloris Burnett. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mt. Graham Chapel on Highway 191 in Safford.
