Gary Dean Doan
Born: April 28th, 1961 - Deceased: July 25th, 2020.
Gary Dean Doan was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Charles & Della Doan on April 28th, 1961. Gary spent the first 5 years of his life living in Carlsbad with his parents, stepsiblings Susan & Jeff, and sister Cindy.
When Gary was five, the family moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada where he attended his first eight years of schooling and became a brother again to his sister Cheryl. He was active in boy scouts and 4H throughout those years. When he was 13, the family was yet again on a new adventure and moved to Tucson, Arizona. Gary finished out his schooling in Tucson. One of his favorite things about moving to Tucson was the lifetime friendships he developed with Jeff Carver, and Joe & Eric Gierst. The stories between the boys are endless. Only a few are appropriate.
After graduating from Santa Rita high school in 1979, Gary worked construction for a few different glass companies. Around this time Gary became an uncle to his nephews Ryan Elias & Brian Doan. Gary's greatest adventure was working for Boeing Aircraft starting as a mechanic and working his way up to a promotion as a Quality Manager. During his years of working for Boeing, he took many traveling assignments and got to live in several different states and made many friends including his friend Denver Russell at Rapid City, South Dakota. He spent some time in Wichita Falls, Texas, Kingsville, Texas, Abilene, TX, Rapid City, South Dakota, and Goldsboro, NC.
Gary also traveled out of the country for job opportunities in Japan, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia. If you knew Gary you knew the simple phrase "let's go for a drive" meant you were gonna be gone for a while. He loved to travel and meet new people. He would always talk about the wonderful adventures he got to go on during these trips such as snorkeling, ziplining, and visiting National Monuments and State Parks.
Gary loved hiking and spending time with friends, family, and Liz and her 2 daughters. Gary also loved being a great uncle to Ryan's sons Cason & Korbin. His family & friends were very fortunate to get to spend some time with him before his unexpected passing and were able to enjoy his smile and his one of a kind laugh before his departure on his "next adventure".
He is survived by his sisters Cynthia (Dale) Stringfellow and Susan Doan, his brother Jeffrey (Sandra) Doan, his nephews Brian Doan and Ryan Elias (Tiffany), and great-nephews Cason and Korbin Elias.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Della Doan, and his youngest sister Cheryl Doan.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the Pima Cemetery.
