Gary Tibbitts

January 13, 1943 — June 18, 2010

Gary Lee Tibbitts A Man of Simple Faith Gary Lee Tibbitts, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, June 18, 2010. Gary was born January 13, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Orrin Gessel and Ethel Marie Call Tibbitts. At a young age his family moved to Bountiful where he grew up and had an exciting and wonderful childhood. He graduated from Bountiful High School and attended Brigham Young University, but he was anxious to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Central States Mission from 1962-64. It was here he met his future wife, whose father was his Mission President. He married Barbara Player April 2, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they loved and raised 6 wonderful children who then blessed them with 23 grandchildren. Gary began his professional career at Dixon Paper Co. where he excelled in sales and management. While he was very successful in his professional life, it was in his service to the Savior and his family that he found true joy and life fulfillment. He faithfully and willingly served in many capacities in the Church: Branch President, High Counselor, Bishop, Stake President, Jordan River Temple Worker, and his favorite calling as Deacons Quorum Advisor. He had a zest for life. He loved snow skiing, hunting, golfing, his horses (especially Mozara), and his favorite activity was having one of his grandchildren on his lap helping him navigate the waters of Lake Powell. Wherever he was or whatever he was doing, he was steadfast in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and lived his life accordingly. He is survived by his sweetheart, Barbara; his children: Doug (Bobbi), Jolee, Melanie (Matt) Morrill, Jared (Toni), Leslie (Chad) Kehl, David (Melissa); 23 grandchildren; sister, Jean (David) Matthews; brothers, Robert (Bonnie), Dean (Susan), Alan (Joan). Preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Carson Matthew Morrill. Our heartfelt love and appreciation is extended to the special staff at Alta Ridge for their tender loving care of Gary. You not only took great care of him, you got to know him and loved the man he is. THANK YOU. Services will be held Friday, June 25, 2010, 11;00 a.m. at the Bennion 2nd Ward, 6100 South Kamas Dr. (2480 W.). Viewings will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
