Gaylen Lee Hemsley 1930 ~ 2007 Gaylen Lee Hemsley, our noble great-grandfather, grandfather, father and uncle, 76, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at home. Born November 5, 1930 in Plano, Idaho, to Richard John and Ellen Stewart Hemsley. He graduated from Logan High School and the University of Utah and taught elementary school for 30 years in the Granite District. He served an LDS Mission to the Great Lakes Mission and in the military during the Korean War. He married Martha Audrey Fitzpatrick March 1, 1956 in the Logan Temple; she passed away in 1990. Gaylen married Kathryn Ellen Fitzpatrick (Marthas sister) November 9, 1990 in the Jordan River Temple; she passed away in 2006. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and will be remembered for his missionary work and his love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will miss grandpas quiet ways and his love and support for his family. He served three missions with his wife, Kathy, as a temple worker, stake missionary and for the LDS Church Historical Department. Gaylen is survived by his children: Lorie (Dan) Hemsley, Tooele; Tom (Julie) Hemsley, WVC; Melissa Hemsley, Tooele; Joleen Clarke, SLC; grandchildren: Monica (Brandon) Spiva, Jenny (Adam) Sheppick, Aaron Hemsley; great-grandchildren: Andre and Caden Spiva and Kenzie Sheppick. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew; his parents; and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at the Overlake First Ward, 1000 West Utah Ave (200 N.), Tooele, UT 84074. A viewing will be held Sunday, August 19, 2007, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT and Monday at the church, 11:45am -12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, 4:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates.
