Genevieve Rich Blake Jazz Fan Ute Fan Genevieve Rich Blake, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother left her earthly home, surrounded by her children, on June 25, 2009. She was born July 17, 1925 to Thomas William Rich and Mary Edna Frost Rich, in Bennion, Utah, where she lived all her life. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many different organizations, including the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. She served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple for 14 years. Genevieve married her eternal sweetheart, Laurence Blake, August 19, 1942 in Tucson, Arizona while he was serving in the United States Army Air Corps. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on September 25, 1942. She enjoyed working outdoors in her garden and yard as long as she was able. She was a devoted fan of the University of Utah Utes and the Utah Jazz basketball teams. She loved watching the games and helping the coaching staffs coach the teams. She enjoyed traveling through Europe and the United States with her friend, Thelma Jaynes. Each of her children, grandchildren (22) and great-grandchildren (45) were deeply loved. She is survived by her children: Lolene; son-in-law, Dan Leatherwood (Ruby), Larry (Linda), Richard (Sherry), Linda Carver (Reed) and Randy (Julie); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and brothers, Eugene Rich and Alvin Ellison. She is preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; and daughter, Marsha Blake Leatherwood. Gratitude and appreciation are extended to her doctors, nurses, the medical technicians at the Oquirrh Artificial Kidney Center, the kind caregivers at Care Source Home Health and Hospice, and her church family. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Bennion Heights 3rd Ward, 2700 West 5700 South, Taylorsville, UT. A viewing will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009, 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT and Monday at the church, 10-10:45 am. Burial at Larkin Memorial Gardens, Sandy.
