George loved being a boy scout and working in the Boy Scouts of America. He served many times as Scoutmaster and various positions throughout the districts and councils. He devoted over 43 years service to scouting programs and received many awards and badges including Eagle Scout, with three palms, and the Silver Beaver award. George believed in the values of the Scouting program and tried to instill them in all the young men he worked with. George began working for Kennecott Utah Copper in 1932 and continued for 45 years. Throughout the years, he advanced from laborer to General Mill Supervisor at the time of his retirement. After retirement, George and Tillie loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations throughout the United States. Many of these vacations included their family and their grandchildren.
