Georgene Dolores Francis entered into eternal life with her daughters by her side on the evening of March 11, 2020. She was born on December 16, 1943, in Safford to George Lopez and Maria Ibarra Lopez.
Georgene had a spirit like none other, she enjoyed remembering and talking about the old days when life was simpler. Her recipes weren't written down, they were just remembered. Home remedies were and still are the best medicines. She enjoyed sewing, reading, watching cold case mysteries and going to church.
Georgene leaves behind her daughters Dionysia (Porfirio) Padilla, Fredda (Therese Madigan) Diaz, her son Pete (Brandy) Duran, 4 grandchildren; Phillip Michael Diaz, Angelica & Anahi Padilla, and Logan Duran, and 3 great-grandchildren; Hector Diaz, Halle Layton, and Maricela Colunga. She also leaves behind her sisters; Mari Lopez, Jacqueline (Dave) Ingram, Rose Lopez, and Nelda (Bob) Mondragon, her brothers Frank (Michael), Sotero (Rita), and George (Jason Polo) Lopez along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father George S. Lopez, her mother Maria M. Ibarra Lopez, her brother Fredrick Lopez and her sister Yolanda Lopez.
A celebration of life will be held at the Desert Springs Community Fellowship on May 2, 2020, with times to be announced later.
