Georgia C. Hays, graveside services will be conducted at 2pm on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Safford Cemetery. Georgia passed away on Monday, December 14, in Peoria, AZ. She was a lifelong resident of Safford. She was born on May 22, 1923 in Marion, Kentucky, to George and Virgie Clark. She married Howard Hays in 1941 and they moved their family from Kentucky to Arizona in 1954. Georgia was an accomplished seamstress and artist. She worked for many years in the fabric department of the Safford J.C. Penny Store. Georgia and Howard traveled throughout the country with their RV taking time to explore the areas they visited. They especially enjoyed their summers as campground hosts in Colorado. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard R. Hays; grandchildren, Willow Hays; Sister Evelyn Starbuck; and a great granddaughter. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Norviel) Walton of Winslow; sons, Joel (Barbara) Hays of Glendale, David (Flo) Hays, of Baird, NM, and Daniel (Marcia) Hays of Safford; grandchildren, Manny Walton, Douglas (Carleen) Walton, Howard T. (Valene) Hays, Rebecca (Jonanthan) Poe, Jason (Gerri) Hays, Kyle Hays, Holly (Mathew) Siltala, and Harley Hays; 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
