Gerald Dick Coats 1928 ~ 2008 Gerald Dick Coats, a loving man, a dedicated farmer, a devout servant of the Lord and a story teller, died Aug. 4, 2008. He was born in Murray, Utah on February 14, 1928 to William and Marjorie Coats. He was the third of six children and grew up farming with his dad and brothers. He proudly served in the 47th Engineers' Camouflage Battalion from 1950-1952. He fell in love with and married Nina Murdock Coats on September 9, 1955. They had a whirlwind courtship and a marriage that lasted 45 years until his beloved wife passed in 2000. His love of farming led him to McCornick, Utah where he and his partners established Triple C Farms. He fell in love with the people of Millard County and raised his family of six kids in a place he called "Heaven on Earth." He loved fishing, hunting, reading, and attending the temple but he mostly enjoyed talking to people. His children will be eternally grateful for the principles of hard work, honesty and integrity that he instilled in them. He is survived by six children (Kevin, Pam, Paula, Karen, Bryan, Brett), their five spouses, 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers. Viewing will take place on Thurs., August 7th, 7-9 p.m. and Fri., August 8th, 10:30-11:30 Holden Ward Chapel. Funeral will be Fri., August 8, 12 noon Holden Ward Chapel.
