Biography Gloria Montez Madrid, 76, peacefully passed away in Globe, Arizona on Friday, August 3, 2012. Gloria was born on November 7, 1935 in Solomonville, Arizona to Abran and Josephine Madrid. She grew up in Clifton, Arizona and later moved to Safford, Arizona. Gloria was an active member of Beneficio Proprio and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford. God was always first in her life. She devoted many years as a caregiver for her beloved parents and her neighbors. She was a dedicated and dependable worker. She worked for many years as a housekeeper and also for the Safford School District. Her interests included gardening, reading, and cooking. She loved listening to music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Gloria was very giving and generous to everyone. She will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched. Gloria is survived by two brothers, Louis (Shirley) Madrid of Pensacola, Florida, and Robert (Grace) Madrid, of York Valley, Arizona; and four sisters, Ida (Jesus) Guerena of Globe, Arizona, Carol (Alex) Esparza of Lakeside, Arizona, Betty (Wayne) Karunas of Phoenix, Arizona and Lilly Urrea of Phoenix, Arizona. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford, AZ on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Safford cemetery with Honorary Bearers; Paul Esparza, Michael Lopez, Robert Madrid Jr., and Mario Guerena. Pallbearers include; Matthew Guerena, Martin Guerena, Rondy Urrea, Jacob Esparza, Stephen Lopez, Ronnie Lopez, and Isaac Madrid.
