Graciela Gasca

Our beloved mother, Graciela Gasca passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the age of 73. She was born on December 29, 1950, in El Paso, TX, and later moved to Eden, AZ at the age of 5 with her family.  Her parents were Genoveva Ortega and Nicanor Valles and was the oldest of her eight siblings – Estela, Ricardo, Elena, Elisa, Norma, Virginia, Lidia & Ray.

She attended Pima High School and was married in 1970 to our father Ruben Gasca. She taught catechism and sang in the church choir at St. Martin de Porres Mission for many years and worked at the Pima School cafeteria. Her hobbies included crocheting and crafts. She also enjoyed family time with her sisters and going to the casino on occasions.

Graciela was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.

In her final moments, Graciela was surrounded by many of her loved ones as she peacefully transitioned from this world into the next.

Graciela is survived by her children Elizabeth (Arturo) Luna, Nicolas (Diana) Gasca, Fernando (Reanna) Gasca and Miguel Gasca. She had nine grandchildren Nicolas D., Estevan, Robert, Jenna, Alyssa, Elias, Gracie, Sophie, & Rocsie. She also had six great-grandchildren Saleen, Matthew, Malachi, Romeo, Reynaldo, Liliana & Ember. Some of our cousins and grandbabies also saw her as their mother.

She was preceded in death by her sister Elena, her mother Genoveva, her father Nicanor and our father Ruben. We will all miss her dearly.

Her services are as follows: Viewing- Thursday, Aug 15th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. McDougal Caldwell Funeral, 112 East Main St, Safford, AZ 85546. Funeral services- Friday, Aug 16, Rosary 9:30 a.m. Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima, 311 Central Avenue, Safford, AZ, 85546. Burial- Pima Cemetery, 800 South, 400 West, Pima, Arizona 85543.
