Gwen Hughes

Loving husband, father, and grandfather Malcolm Gwen Hughes passed away at his home on August 20th, 2015. He left behind a loving wife; Georgetta Hughes, two daughters; Mary Gentry (James) and Brenda Hughes-Johnson (Rob), two sisters; Judy Opitz, Barbara Hughes, Doris Cope (deceased). Gwen has five grandchildren; Anthony and Christine Pacheco, Bobbi, Jaimi, and Ashley Gentry, and four great-grandchildren; Georgie, Madison, Patrick, and Xander. Gwen was born on September 5, 1937, in Newbern, TN, to Leo and Mildred Hughes. He worked many years for the U.S. Postal Service. He was an avid Diamondbacks fan. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel. 112 East Main Street, Safford. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Safford LDS 20th Street Church, 303 West 20th Street, with Bishop Chris Bierman officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the in the Pima Cemetery.
